Our Approach

Dr. Valerie Martinsen Seifert grew up in La Porte, Indiana. She graduated as a Valedictorian from La Porte High School where she was involved in numerous organizations and sports teams. She went on to Valparaiso University where she played soccer for the Crusaders and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree. Dr. Seifert attended Indiana University School of Dentistry and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2007. While at IUSD, she was an active member of Delta Sigma Delta, an international dental fraternity, and a contributing author to its publication, Desmos.

In the fall of 2007, she opened a private dental practice in LaPorte and has reveled in serving her community through dentistry. Over the past 15+ years, Dr. Seifert has experienced tremendous growth and has created an extraordinary practice. After marrying in 2017 and changing her name, Dr. Val rebranded her practice as Maple City Dentistry beginning in 2018. The new name and brand reflect the practice’s commitment to continue to grow and better serve the oral health care needs of its patients.

Dr. Val is a member of the American Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, Northwest Indiana Dental Society and the past President of the LaPorte County Dental Society. She is a past President of the Northwest Indiana Dental Society, and is a fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists. Dr. Val is a distinguished member of the Academy of General Dentistry, having earned her Fellowship—an honor achieved by only 6% of dentists nationwide, reflecting her dedication to excellence and lifelong learning in dentistry. She is a mentor with CDOCS and helps to train other dentists in CEREC cad/cam technology.

She is a graduate of the American Dental Association’s Institute for Diversity in Leadership. She participated in the Indiana Dental Association’s AIR Leadership Program in 2014-2016 and is now a mentor and chairperson of the program. With a focus on mental wellness in dentistry as well as leadership, mentorship and diversity, equity and inclusion, she serves on numerous committees and task forces for the IDA and in the House of Delegates for the IDA and ADA.

Outside the office, Dr. Val is committed to community service and dedicates her time to various organizations including Big Comedy LaPorte and the LaPorte County Family YMCA. In her free time she loves spending her time cooking in her kitchen or running, biking and hiking outdoors with her husband Jason and two stepsons.

Dr. Ushna Vaid holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Illinois. She also earned a Master of Arts in Biomedical Sciences from Midwestern University College of Health Sciences, and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a minor in Biology from Northern Illinois University.

Dr. Vaid’s care philosophy centers on partnering with her patients to deliver best-in-class dentistry. She believes that great, healthy results are achieved through open communication, trust, and a full understanding of the treatment plan presented. Dr. Vaid truly enjoys the positive effect that dentistry can have on both emotional and physical health. She strives to deliver compassionate and comprehensive dental care in a relaxed environment.

Committed to staying abreast of all dentistry trends and techniques, Dr. Vaid continuously furthers her education through various courses. She is fully dedicated to delivering the utmost quality dental care possible and is excited to be a part of the Maple City Dentistry team. Dr. Vaid looks forward to helping patients achieve healthy and beautiful smiles.

Outside of the office, Dr. Vaid enjoys spending time with her husband and four beautiful children. At home, she loves baking, sewing, watching true crime TV shows, and applying henna. A coffee enthusiast, Dr. Vaid enjoys trying out new coffee varieties and flavors. Her special dentistry interests include teeth whitening, cosmetic dentistry, dentures, extractions, restorative dentistry, and endodontics. Dr. Vaid is also proficient in Urdu, Gujarati, and Hindi.

Dr. Daniel Kreager is a General Practice dentist with over 30 years of clinical experience. His expertise includes composite fillings, extractions, crowns and bridges, root canals, veneers, implants, and removable prosthetics such as full and partial dentures. He has specialized training in using veneers to craft beautiful, natural-looking smiles. Dr. Kreager received his dental training at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and has pursued numerous postdoctoral courses to refine his skills.

Growing up in Southwestern Michigan, Dr. Kreager discovered his passion for dentistry in high school while shadowing his local dentist in the small town of Buchanan. After high school, he attended Central Michigan University to play baseball and later transferred to Ferris State College, earning a pharmacy degree. He initially worked as a pharmacist for a chain pharmacy but soon returned to his dream of becoming a dentist, ultimately being accepted to the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

Dr. Kreager is married to his wife, Diane, and together they have three children—Ryan, Lauren, and Stephanie—and ten grandchildren. Outside of his practice, he enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending quality time with his grandkids.

Dr. Kreager is excited to welcome patients to Maple City Dentistry and is proud to work alongside Dr. Val to provide exceptional dental care.

Dr. Bansi Patel is passionate about providing dentistry that goes beyond the smile. He believes in a holistic approach to dentistry that treats not just teeth, but the whole person. Dr. Patel connects oral health to overall well-being. His compassionate care focuses on prevention, education, and personalized treatment plans designed to support both dental health and broader health goals. He takes the time to listen to his patients, building trust and ensuring they feel confident and comfortable every step of the way.

A graduate of the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, Dr. Patel holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and advanced training in a wide range of dental services. His expertise includes preventative care, restorative treatments, crowns and bridges, dentures, and implant restorations. Dr. Patel is also skilled in advanced procedures such as bone grafting, surgical extractions, and oral cancer evaluations, providing comprehensive care tailored to every patient’s unique needs.

Dr. Patel’s dedication to community health is reflected in his extensive volunteer work, including providing free dental care to underserved populations through programs like Arizona Dental Mission of Mercy and Give Kids a Smile Day. Fluent in Gujarati, he values making patients of all backgrounds feel respected and cared for.

Outside of the office, Dr. Patel enjoys exploring new places, engaging in community outreach, and participating in educational initiatives. He’s thrilled to call LaPorte home and bring his philosophy of holistic, person-centered care to Maple City Dentistry.
